Technical notes from ESC engineers.
Educational articles on how integrated building systems are designed, documented and commissioned. Written for consultants, owners and facility teams.
What we write about, and what we do not
These articles explain the engineering behind integrated systems: how a fire alarm drives HVAC, access and lifts through a cause-and-effect matrix; where aspirating smoke detection fits in a data hall; and what it takes to bring BMS, fire and security together on one platform. They are educational. They describe standards, design logic and documentation practice, and they do not make claims about ESC projects beyond what the project register already documents.
Each note is written to be read in a few minutes and to be useful at the specification stage, when the choices that later determine commissioning effort are still open.
